I am Lai Ki (or you can call me Kate :), an oil painter drawn to the language of abstraction as a way to explore emotion, identity, and movement. My work arises from a deeply intuitive process — layers of color, texture, and form that express what words cannot. As someone who dances contemporary and hip-hop, I bring movement into my paintings — gestures frozen in time, rhythms you might feel lingering within the brushstrokes.

My paintings are less about representation and more about release — of emotion, memory, self. I do not begin with a final image in mind; instead, I follow feeling, letting it guide me toward something raw and honest. Sometimes, the canvas holds truths I choose not to express in words — because they are meant to be felt, not spoken.
