I am Lai Ki (or you can call me Kate :), an oil painter drawn to the language of abstraction as a way to explore emotion, identity, and movement. My work often arises from a deeply intuitive process—layers of color, texture, and form that express what words cannot. As someone who also practices contemporary and hip-hop dance, you may feel movement within the brushstrokes — a gesture frozen in time, a rhythm lingering on canvas.

My paintings are less about representation and more about release — of emotion, memory, self. I do not begin with a final image in mind; instead, I follow feeling, letting it guide me toward something raw and honest. Each canvas is a new conversation, and I invite the viewer to join in — not to find answers, but to feel something real.
